In 1983, there was a documentary released about a legalized prostitution house in Nevada. This very famous location was called “The Chicken Ranch.” It gave a sexy, overtly irreverent view of life inside the workings of a whorehouse. The different characters in the film are portrayed as they really are. Real. A sanctimonious speech by the proprietor of the establishment is followed up by a scene in which he loses his temper and rages at several of the girls. The matron is also a real character portrayed more like a den mother than a matron. This movie inspired the great classic musical film “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” starring Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds. It even kept the name of “The Chicken Ranch” for the historical establishment portrayed in the musical film.
